This project was to design for working life, Ecometrica is a dynamic, fast growing company established from a research unit at Edinburgh Univeristy. It develops software applications for environmental monitoring and management; clients include the Scottish Government and household-name businesses across the world, who use this company’s knowledge to assist them in reducing their greenhouse gas emmissons and optimising their environmental strategies.
The clients company currently stands at 24 people, growing to 32 in the next four years. The office design needs to be futureproof and adaptable for the growing team. There are two halfs to the team, a noisy team which have embraced agile, hybrid working so often work at home but want a space to work in the office to interact with colleagues and have a space to connect, communicate and concentrate. The quiet team require more desk space for their monitors, and a quiet area away from distraction to focus.The company are big on the enviorment and a sustainable future, the office needs to be designed with sustainable materials which are durable and low in VOCs (Volatile Organic compounds).
